How it works
Choose the position (six corners + center), format (`1, 2, 3…` or `1 / 10` or `Page 1`), starting number, and font size. Numbers are drawn on every page using an embedded standard PDF font.
Common use cases
- Adding page numbers to a scanned document that came without them, so a reader can reference specific pages.
- Numbering the pages of a printed handout so the audience can follow along by number.
- Preparing a legal or academic submission where numbered pages are a formatting requirement.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded to our servers — the file stays on your device from start to finish.
FAQ
Can I start numbering from a specific number?
Yes — the "Start at" field lets you begin from any positive integer. Useful when the current PDF continues from another document (page 47 onwards, for instance).
Are existing page numbers replaced?
No — the tool draws new numbers on top of the page. If your PDF already has printed page numbers embedded in the content, they stay visible. Use with care to avoid double numbering.
