How it works

Drop a PDF and pick a mode. "Editable" (default) extracts real paragraphs, headings and tables — great for reports, contracts, articles. "Fidelity" preserves the original layout with textboxes — better for CVs, forms and visually-designed pages, but harder to edit. Get the resulting .docx to open in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages.

FAQ

Will the output look exactly like the original PDF?

Honestly: no, and not in any free tool. PDF is a fixed-layout format (every glyph is placed in absolute coordinates); Word is a flowing document. Converting one into the other means guessing the original intent — where paragraphs start, where columns are, which lines belong together. Text-heavy PDFs (reports, contracts, articles) convert well. Visually-designed pages (CVs, forms, invoices) will drift. Try the "Fidelity" mode for a closer visual match, or use Adobe Acrobat (paid) for pixel-perfect.

Which mode should I pick?

Editable if you want to modify the text easily and the visual layout does not matter (reports, contracts). Fidelity if you need the output to look like the source and do not mind editing being clunkier (CVs, forms, invoices). When in doubt, try both — same file, one click each.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Not directly — a scanned PDF is a picture of text. Run it through our OCR tool first (coming soon) to convert the image to real text, then use PDF to Word.

Is my file sent to the server?

Yes. PDF to Word runs the conversion on our server. Your PDF is deleted from disk as soon as the .docx is returned — no copy is kept.
